Howdy, and welcome to, well, me! My name is Cortney Markham. I'm a recent graduate from the University of Michigan - Dearborn. I received a bachelor's in Journalism and Media Production. Since I started at the university, I've gravitated towards media production. While working towards this degree, I fell into the lovely rabbit hole of camerawork and editing. I've always had a love of writing, which has pushed me to write screenplays as well. And if that wasn't enough, this field has also pulled me into the directing sphere! I adore working with a team to create, whether it be on-screen or off.
Along with working in film, I also work in theater. Since mid-2022, I've worked in production teams and acted on stage to produce beautiful musicals and stage plays for the surrounding community. I've been able to create a lot of beautiful things with some talented people, all of whom have helped me to improve my skills and abilities. However, I do still have a lot to learn! Even though I've been lucky enough to have so much experience at such a young age, there's a lot I don't know, and I want to soak that knowledge up like a sponge. The first director I ever worked with in theater said to me, "The day I say 'I'm the best' you need to slap me because that's the day I've stopped learning." I live by that statement. We never stop learning, and we shouldn't want to. I know I don't. |
